Does South Beach Diet Really Work?

The idea behind the South Beach Diet is that when the body accepts fat and carbohydrates differently, people can then lose weight. In order to do that, the craving for sugar is eliminated.

The Basics

This diet works in 3 phases. In the first phase, processed sugars are completely eliminated. For two weeks, no processed sugars can be eaten. During that time, the habit of eating sugar is supposed to be eliminated.

The second phase reintroduces the foods that were previously eliminated. Moderation is the key during this phase.

When dieters move to the third phase, they focus on maintaining their weight. This phase focuses on people using what they have learned in order to keep the weight off.

The Meals

Fresh meat, fruit, and low carb choices are needed. Some dieters find the ingredients to be a bit expensive for the meals. In addition, people with children will likely want to prepare a second meal for their children.

People who are on this diet do not have to cook every meal. There are prepackaged meals available at most grocery stores.

The requirements of the diet can be difficult for vegetarians to follow and they need to examine the diet and see if it is something they can do.

Does it Work?

Those who have strong control can get the diet to work. The first two weeks of the diet are hard, but once that phase is finished people can move to the next phase and succeed. Dieters who follow the plan can lose weight.

Weight can be lost on this diet with or without exercise. An exercise plan is not available. However, more fat can be lost when dieters choose to incorporate exercise with the diet. If they choose to do so, they will need to use their own exercise plan. You can also check out in-depth review of South Beach Diet to help you decide if this diet is right for you.
